Myanmar has three "seasons", namely

  • “Winter” season from mid of October to end of February with temperatures of 25-30 degrees Celsius in lower parts of Myanmar and 8-22 degrees in the mountains, where night temperatures might drop to 0 degrees. There is almost no rain during these months except some irregular cyclone from the Bay of Bangal.
  • Summer / Hot Season from March to May with temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius. Place like Taunggyi, Kalaw and Maymyo are still pleasant with night temperature around 22 degree Celcius however in the place such as Bagan, Monywa and Mandalay can reach more than 40 Degree Celsius.
  • Rainy Season from June to beginning of October with humid heat and heavy monsoon rainfalls in the coastal regions. Average temperatures range around 30 degrees Celsius. However the tourists spots such as Bagan and Mandalay get lesser rain and still pleasant for sightseeing.

Most tourists visit Myanmar during winter season, the rainy season however is becoming more popular especially for visits to the central plains.
