Day 1. Arrival in Yangon

Upon arrival in Yangon, you will be greeted by Trails of Myanmar guide and transfer to your hotel.
Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, which is the colonial and spiritual heritage makes the city, one of the most fascinating and authentic capitals of Southeast Asia. Sightseeing for the day includes many colonial style buildings, century old The Strand Hotel and the lively China town. Visit of the day also include the hexagonal shape Sule Pagoda and Chauk Htut Gyi Pagoda (70 m long reclining Buddha). You may also visit to Kandawgyi Park where you will see the Karaweik Hall (a floating barge with the mythical creature on Kandawgyi Lake)enjoy the greenery and nice silhouettes of Shwedagon Pagoda on the lake itself in the afternoon. Visit of the day will conclude with one of the most wonder of the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, where you could enjoy religious, cultural and social life of local people and enjoy the sunset there. Return back to your hotel.

Day 2. Yangon - Bagan (by early morning flight and private car)

After early breakfast at the hotel (or take away breakfast), you will be transferred to Yangon airport for your early morning flight to Bagan which used to be a royal capital from 11th to 13th century.
Start your visit of the day  with Tayoke Pyay Temple  site from the late 13 th Century era pagodas. Start to get the exposure of Bagan plain from the top of Tayoke Pyay Temple and enjoy the panoramic view there. Visit of the site will include Payathone Zu pagoda ( superb mural painting), Nandamanya temple (artistic and protected mural painting), Laymyetnar Temple  and Dhamarazika Stupa. Continue your visit to Phwar Saw Village, enjoy strolling around in the village and observe local life there.
After lunch, visit one local workshop to observe the handmade lacquer ware and wooden handicrafts. Continue to Manuha Temple, built in Mon style, Nanbayar Temple with a unique sand stone monument and Myinkaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, a Temple known for its mural paintings. Enjoy the unforgettable sunset over one of the temples.

Day 3. Bagan (by private car and sunset boat)

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the colorful market of Nyaung U where a variety of street vendors are selling their local goods. Start the day with visits to the local Nyaung U market where you can see several local people from the surrounding regions trading and bartering their local products such as vegetables, beans and other household utensils etc. Continue visit to pagodas such as including Shwezigone Pagoda, built in the early 11thcentury, Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with superb mural paintings, Htilominlo temple, unique fresco works of all temples and Ananda temple with four standing Buddha Images and a huge teak door.
Afternoon visit may also include Dhammayangyi Temple, Sulamuni Temple and Pyat Thadar Temple. Then transfer to the jetty and take a local boat to enjoy the sunset along the Ayeyarwaddy River. You will also see the beautiful river scenery and life style of the local people who work and live along the banks of the river.
Return to your Hotel.

Day 4. Bagan - Mt. Popa

After breakfast at the hotel, continue to Mt. Popa (about 67 km – 1.5 hour driving), which is an extinct volcano with spectacular views over the plains of Bagan region. You will have to climb up 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak to see the panoramic view. The steps are dirty and there are a lot of aggressive monkeys and one has to make sure not to tease monkeys. Please be careful with your sun glasses and any items in the open pockets. On the way to Mt. Popa, you can also visit toddy palm grove where the skillful local worker climbing up the toddy trees with their bamboo ladders and collecting toddy juice. Toddy juice is used to produce jaggery and alcoholic drink. Return to Bagan in the afternoon.

Day 5. Bagan - Heho - Nyaung Shwe / Inle Lake

After a very early breakfast at the hotel (or take away breakfast), you will be transferred to the Nyaung Oo airport for your domestic flight to Heho. Upon arrival, proceed to Nyaung Shwe, the main gateway to Inle Lake (30 km - 1 hour). Stop on the way to visit to the Shwe Yan Pyae Monastery. At the afternoon excursion on the lake by private long-tail boat will include the weaving village of Inn Pawkhone and a cheroot rolling workshop as well as the famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. You will also see floating gardens, leg rowers, local fishing methods and village life of Inle Lake. Visit will conclude with a 150 years old wooden monastery, Nga Phae Chaung Monastery filled with beautiful Buddha images in various styles. This place was famous as jumping cats Monastery, nowadays you may see the cats jumping occasionally only.

Day 6. Inle Lake - Indein

After early breakfast or before breakfast, visit the lake’s morning 5 days market of the Inle Lake region. The market rotates its location around the lake’s villages in a 5 day rhythm and is visited by lake inhabitants and surrounding hill tribes who come to sell and trade their wares. (Note: Market day is daily held except on the full moon and dark moon day).
After visiting one of the local market days, continue upstream on a small canal leading to the Pa-oh village of In Dein situated at the Western bank of Inle Lake. In Dein is a place where there are more than thousands of Shan style stupas are built on a small mountain. Explore the area on foot, strolling around the village, visiting a local school, and wander through the beautiful picturesque ancient stupas and has magnificent views of the lake below from top of the mountains. After In Dein, take a canoe on downstream up till Phaung Daw Oo pagoda passing through rice fields and bamboo forest.
Return to your Hotel this evening.

Day 7. Inle Lake - Heho - Yangon (by private boat, private car and afternoon flight)

After breakfast, visit a local five days market (if it coincides with five day’s market) and a local village for the village life. You can also visit to Alae Myaung local village situated on the eastern bank of Inle Lake to see native and migrating birds and local farming methods before transfer to Nyaung Shwe by boat and by car to Heho airport to fly back to Yangon.
Upon arrival to Yangon, transfer to your hotel.

Day 8. Yangon - International Departure (morning / evening)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the railways station to experience the local circular train rides. The train ride would not be too spectacular but nice. But one can see the town from different angles. In the middle of the journey, it is getting quite rural. One could see the ordinary local people on their local lives. Drop off at Insein (approximately 45 minutes) and visit the Insein market where you can see the colorful vendors and shopkeepers. Your can also stroll around the Scott (Bogyoke) Market with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores before transfer to the airport for your international flight. [Scott (Bogyoke) Market will be closed on Monday and public holidays].
