Day 1. Arrival in Yangon

Upon arrival in Yangon, you will be greeted by Trails of Myanmar guide and transfer to your hotel. Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, which is the colonial and spiritual heritage makes the city, one of the most fascinating and authentic capitals of Southeast Asia.
Sightseeing for the day includes many colonial style buildings, century old The Strand Hotel and the lively China town. Visit of the day also include the hexagonal shape Sule Pagoda and Chauk Htut Gyi Pagoda (70 m long reclining Buddha). You may also visit to Kandawgyi Park where you will see the Karaweik Hall (a floating barge with the mythical creature on Kandawgyi Lake) enjoy the greenery and nice silhouettes of Shwedagon Pagoda on the lake itself in the afternoon. Visit of the day will conclude with one of the most wonder of the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, where you could enjoy religious, cultural and social life of local people and enjoy the sunset there. Return back to your hotel.

Day 2. Yangon - Heho - Pindaya - Kalaw (by morning flight and car)

After breakfast at the hotel (or take away breakfast), transfer airport for your domestic flight. Continue from the Heho airport to Pindaya town (60 km - 2 hours) on bumpy road. However the scenery itself is beautiful like patch works since local farmers grow varieties of colorful crops on red soils of the region (from Oct – Feb). Pindaya cave is 160 m deep inside, enshrining more than 8,000 Buddha images which are mostly made from alabaster, cement plaster and woods etc. Visit of the day will also include parasol making (made from bamboo and Shan paper) and traditional Shan Paper making industry (utilizing bark of paper mulberry trees). After sightseeing in Pindaya Town, you will be transferred to Kalaw (52 km - 1.5 hours). Kalaw used to be British hill station and situated 1,500 metres above the sea levels surrounded with nice pine forests.

Day 3. Kalaw (Trekking)

After breakfast, trek up to Hin Khar Kone village (about 2.5 hours) where the Palaung ethnic group is living. Visit of the day include pine forest, a small sluice gate called Yae Aye Kan, and tea leaves plantations. Lunch will be served at one of the local family houses prepared by your trekking guide. After lunch proceed to Myin Saing Kone and Myin Dike villages (1.5 hours) passing through the vegetables fields. Myin Dike is a village where Danu hill tribe is living. On the way, you walk through on the train railway for a while. See the life style of the people at the Train Station of Myin Dike and return to Kalaw (1.5 hours).

Day 4. Kalaw - Nyaung Shwe / Inle Lake (by private car and boat)

After breakfast, proceed by car to Nyaung Shwe (60 km – 1.5 hours) which is situated at the entrance of the Inle Lake and transfer to your hotel. Stop on the way to visit to the Shwe Yan Pyae Monastery.
Afternoon excursion on the Lake by private long-tail boat will include the weaving village of Inn Pawkhone and a cheroot rolling workshop as well as the famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. You will also see floating gardens, leg rowers, local fishing methods and village life of Inle Lake. Visit will conclude with a 150 years old wooden monastery, Nga Phae Chaung Monastery filled with beautiful Buddha images in various styles. This place was famous as jumping cats Monastery, nowadays you may see the cats jumping occasionally only.

Day 5. Inle Lake - Indein (by private boat)

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the five day's market at nearby village (if coinciding with market day schedule). Continue your journey to the Western bank of Inle Lake upstream on a creek to get to Indein Pagoda where thousands of Shan style stupas exist. You will also get a chance to stroll around bamboo forest and visit local villages to experience village life of tribal people. After sightseeing in Indein, take a private canoe to go downstream on Indein creek passing through some rice fields and bamboo forests.

Day 6. Inle Lake - Sanghar (by private boat)

After breakfast, start your private long-tail boat trip to Sanghar village. Sanghar was in the 18th century one of the larger cities in Shan State (40 km - 3 hours per way). The highlights of this site are the remote village, stupas that sometimes get flooded in the rainy season and water lilies growing in mass. Visit also include a basic local rice liquor distillery and a local pottery village. The trip leads you through very interesting landscape, the lake becomes a creek to widen to a lake again before Sanghar.
An additional, mandatory Pa-O guide will accompany you in addition to your tour guide.

Day 7. Inle Lake - Nyaung Shwe - Kakku - Taunggyi - Aye Thar Yar Vineyard - Nyaung Shwe (by private boat and car)

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Kakku Pagoda complex in the territory of the Pa-O ethnic group (70 km from Nyaung Shwe - 2.5 hours). The highlight of this site is the 2,500 temples and stupas aligned in rows, in a 1 sq-km area. Huge and shady Banyan trees and charming Pa-O villages surround it. A Pa-O guide will also assist you in addition to your tour guide. In the afternoon, drive back via Taunggyi. On the way you may also visit to Aye Thar Yar Vineyard, which is a cozy place and you can see wine producing process.

Day 8. Nyaung Shwe - Heho - Kyaing Tong (by private car, flight and van car)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Heho airport for your domestic flight to Kyaing Tong, the capital of Eastern Shan State. Main attractions there are the primitive hill tribes such as Khun, Akha, Shan, Wa and Lahu. You can explore the town and One tree hill, with old big trees and a view over the area and Naung Tone Lake in town.

Day 9. Kyaing Tong (by van car and Trekking)

In the very early morning, visit the colorful market in Kyaing Tong. Visit and hike of the day include the area of Wan Pauk where Akha and Ann ethnic groups are living. You will drive by car to start of the trekking spot and then walk uphill to those villages. The people in those villages are living in an ancient way and those villages are beyond any hygiene standards!
In the late afternoon return to Kyaing Tong.

Day 10. Kyaing Tong (by van car and Trekking)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed to Loimwe (33 km - 1 hour) where a number of colonial buildings and a century old Catholic Church exist. Continue visit to nearby ethnic villages (Ann, Wa, Lahu tribes) on foot. Return to Kyaing Tong in the late afternoon.

Day 11. Kyaing Tong - Mandalay (by van car, afternoon flight and private car)

Morning is at your leisure and breakfast is at the hotel,. You may visit the lacquer ware workshop in town or visit the cattle market in Kyaing Tong.
After lunch transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Mandalay.
Upon arrival transfer to your Hotel in Mandalay.

Day 12. Mandalay - Mingun - Mandalay (by private boat and car)

After breakfast, transfer to jetty and take a private boat on Ayeyarwady river (11 km - 2 hours) to visit Mingun. Highlight of the sights are the unfinished pagoda which is huge one, the 90-ton ringing bell of Mingun and Myatheintan Pagoda. Return by boat to Mandalay. In the afternoon, visit to Amarapura, Mahagandayon Monastery, where thousands of monks are studying as well as 200 years old U Bein bridge. You will walk over to the end of the bridge and come back by riding a small rowing boat OR use the boat to enjoy the Sunset at U Bein bridge. Visit will also include silk weaving a factory.

Day 13. Mandalay - Pyin Oo Lwin (by private car)

After breakfast, drive to Pyin Oo Lwin (67 km - 2 hours) which is situated over 1,000 m above the sea level. Make a short stop at "21 miles" where many food stalls and street vendors display their agricultural and food products. Shortly before Pyin Oo Lwin, there are flower vendors with a variety of colourful flowers from this region. Your visit in Pyin Oo Lwin will include a Chinese Temple, hundred year old Candacraig Hotel and the local market.
In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Botanical Garden. A place to relax, one can see variety of trees and flowers, birds and a number of theme gardens. Return to your hotel by horse cart.

Day 14. Pyin Oo Lwin - Gotheik Viaduct - Mandalay (by train and car)

After breakfast, transfer to Pyin Oo Lwin railway station to take a local train ride. (Trains are not punctual and not comfortable). The highlight of your train ride is crossing the Gotheik viaduct, this railway Viaduct was built around 100 years ago and at that time was a masterpiece in engineering. It is an impressive steel structure over a deep valley. The ride is especially interesting as the train coming from Pyin Oo Lwin stops in front of the viaduct to let an oncoming southbound train pass. To put least stress on the structure, the train crawls over the viaduct in snail pace. You can look down into the deep valley from the train windows.
After crossing the viaduct, leave the train at the next station, Naung Pein Station. There you will be picked up by your car and drive back to Mandalay (160 km - 3.5 hours) in the late evening.

Day 15. Mandalay - Bagan (by boat Shwe Keinnery or Malikha speed boat)

In the very early morning, transfer to the jetty for the boat “Shwe Keinnery” or ’Malikha speed boat’’ to go downstream on Ayeyarwady River to Bagan. Enjoy a relaxing day with the landscape passing by and observing the people's life along the river. There is an air-conditioned room available. The trip takes approximately 10 hours.
Upon arrival to Bagan, transfer to the hotel. Remark: either boat may only be confirmed shortly before your arrival. If finally no boat would go, we have to choose an alternative transport, e.g. by morning flight.

Day 16. Bagan (by private car)

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the colorful market of Nyaung U where a variety of street vendors are selling their local goods such as vegetables, beans and other household utensils etc. Continue visit to pagodas such as including Shwezigone Pagoda, built in the early 11thcentury, Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with superb mural paintings, Htilominlo temple, unique fresco works of all temples and Ananda temple with four standing Buddha Images and a huge teak door.
Afternoon visit may also include Dhammayangyi Temple, Sulamuni Temple and Pyat Thadar Temple.
Return to your Hotel.

Day 17. Bagan (by private car)

After breakfast at the hotel, start your visit of the day with Tayoke Pyay Temple site from the late 13th Century era pagodas. Start to get the exposure of Bagan plain from the top of Tayoke Pyay Temple and enjoy the panoramic view there. Visit of the site will include Payathone Zu pagoda ( superb mural painting), Nandamanya temple (artistic and protected mural painting), Laymyetnar Temple and Dhamarazika Stupa. Continue your visit to Phwar Saw Village, enjoy strolling around in the village and observe local life there.
After lunch, visit one local workshop to observe the handmade lacquer ware and wooden handicrafts. Continue to Manuha Temple, built in Mon style, Nanbayar Temple with a unique sand stone monument and Myinkaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, a Temple known for its mural paintings. Enjoy the unforgettable sunset over one of the temples.

Day 18. Bagan - Yangon (by private car and morning flight)

After early breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Bagan airport for your early morning flight to Yangon.
Upon arrival in Yangon, you will be transferred to your Hotel.
On the way from the airport, you may visit Kalaywatawya scriptural learning monastery thousand of monks and novices are studying. You may go also to Kyauktawgyi Pagoda near the airport and see the white elephants there. Rest of the day will be free is at your leisure or may do further sightseeing as you wish.

Day 19. Yangon - International Departure (morning / evening)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the railways station to experience the local circular train rides. The train ride would not be too spectacular but nice. But one can see the town from different angles. In the middle of the journey, it is getting quite rural. One could see the ordinary local people on their local lives. Drop off at Insein (approximately 45 minutes) and visit the Insein market where you can see the colorful vendors and shopkeepers.
Your can also stroll around the Scott (Bogyoke) Market with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores before transfer to the airport for your international flight. [Scott (Bogyoke) Market will be closed on Monday and public holidays].
