Day 1. Arrival in Yangon

Upon arrival in Yangon, you will be greeted by Trails of Myanmar guide and transfer to your hotel.
Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, which is the colonial and spiritual heritage makes the city, one of the most fascinating and authentic capitals of Southeast Asia.
Sightseeing for the day includes many colonial style buildings, century old The Strand Hotel and the lively China town. Visit of the day also include the hexagonal shape Sule Pagoda and Chauk Htut Gyi Pagoda (70 m long reclining Buddha). You may also visit to Kandawgyi Park where you will see the Karaweik Hall (a floating barge with the mythical creature on Kandawgyi Lake) enjoy the greenery and nice silhouettes of Shwedagon Pagoda on the lake itself in the afternoon. Visit of the day will conclude with one of the most wonder of the world famous Shwedagon Pagoda, where you could enjoy religious, cultural and social life of local people and enjoy the sunset there. Return back to your hotel.

Day 2.Yangon - Bhamo - Shwe Gu (by early morning flight and chartered local boat) (Sunday)

After early breakfast at the hotel (or take away breakfast), transfer to Yangon Airport for a flight to Bhamo.
Upon arrival board on local chartered boat and set sailing to Shwe Gu town.
On the way, we will pass the beautiful Second Defile. The river banks become a steep cliff and the river bottom drops away to extreme depths. The river scene is amazing and offers beautiful scenery.

Lunch and dinner will be provided on local boat and overnight stay on board.

Notes on the boat: Please be aware that this is local boat and please do not expect 3 stars hotel’s standard and totally non air-conditioning. Accommodation is very basic however there is proper toilet and shower for sharing. Bed and mattresses are also very basic one and will switch off the generator at night for sleeping. All meals such as lunch and dinner will be organized by a local chef and you can also enjoy cooking together with him in Myanmar’s way.

Day 3.Shwe Gu - Katha (by chartered local boat)

We leave Shwegu in the morning. The scenery along the river is beautiful with small villages and dense tropical forest. This day is a good chance to see the famous Ayeyarwad dy Dolphin, quite common in this area. In the afternoon, we will reach Katha, a beautiful town with an interesting market, friendly people, and a unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days” written by George Orwell.

Breakfast, Lunch and dinner will be provided on local boat and overnight stay on board.

 

Day 4.Katha - Tagaung (by chartered local boat)

Our journey will continue downstream until Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals o f Myanmar. Proceed for sightseeing at Tagaung.

Day 5.Tagaung - Kyauk Myaung (by chartered local boat)

Continue to the downstream of Thabeikkyin. We will pass the Third Defile. This area is covered with dense teak forest. Sail downstream till Nwe Nyein (potery village) and sights eeing around New Nyein.

Breakfast, Lunch and dinner will be provided on local boat and overnight stay on board.

Day 6.Kyauk Myaung - Mingun - Mandalay (by chartered local boat and private car)

Set sail down stream to Mingun and sightseeing Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tones and the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument. Continue sailing down to Mandalay. Disembark Mandalay Jetty.
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Breakfast, Lunch will be provided on local boat and Dinner on your own account’s and overnight stay in Mandalay.

Day 7. Mandalay - Sagaing - Amarapura (by private car and sunset boat)

After breakfast at the hotel, depart to visit Amarapura (former capital) with Mahaghandayone Monastery, where thousands of monks are taking their meals.
Then cross a bridge over the Irrawaddy River to Sagaing. Visit include a pagoda covered with 600 white-painted pagodas and monasteries, Sagaing Hill is widely regarded as the religious center of Myanmar. It is home to 3,000 monks and 100 meditation centers and you will visit pagodas such as Swan Oo Pon Nya Shin, U Min Thone Sae, and Shin Pin Nan Gyaing.
We’ll also visit Sagaing’s local market, a typical Burmese market that few tourists visit. Here you will find a range of items for sale including locally made pottery, silver and other handicrafts. We will also stop at a small pottery village to see the process of making the ubiquitous water pots found throughout Myanmar.
Return toward the city and stop at Amarapura, a former capital whose name means ‘City of Immortality’. First visit a silk weaving workshop which produces exquisite handmade products. Sunset over U Bein Bridge with small boat Sampan. U Bein Bridge which is 200 year-old teak bridge was constructed of 984 teak posts that were once part of the deserted Inwa Palace and it is 1.2 kilometres in length making it the world’s longest teak span. You can also enjoy a stroll along the bridge and the fabulous views of the surrounding farms and streams.

Day 8.Mandalay - Bagan (by morning flight and private car)

After breakfast, transfer to Mandalay Airport for a flight to Bagan which used to be a royal capital from 11th to 13th century.
Start your visit of the day with Tayoke Pyay Temple site from the late 13 th Century era pagodas. Start to get the exposure of Bagan plain from the top of Tayoke Pyay Temple and enjoy the panoramic view there. Visit of the site will include Payathone Zu pagoda (superb mural painting), Nandamanya temple (artistic and protected mural painting), Laymyetnar Temple and Dhamarazika Stupa. Continue your visit to Phwar Saw Village, enjoy strolling around in the village and observe local life there.
After lunch, visit one local workshop to observe the handmade lacquer ware and wooden handicrafts. Continue to Manuha Temple, built in Mon style, Nanbayar Temple with a unique sand stone monument and Myinkaba Gu Byaukgyi Temple, a Temple known for its mural paintings. Enjoy the unforgettable sunset over one of the temples.

Day 9. Bagan (by private car)

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the colorful market of Nyaung U where a variety of street vendors are selling their local goods such as vegetables, beans and other household utensils etc. Continue visit to pagodas such as including Shwezigone Pagoda, built in the early 11thcentury, Ku Byauk Gyi, a temple with superb mural paintings, Htilominlo temple, unique fresco works of all temples and Ananda temple with four standing Buddha Images and a huge teak door.
Afternoon visit may also include Dhammayangyi Temple, Sulamuni Temple and Pyat Thadar Temple.

Day 10.Bagan - Mt. Popa - Kalaw (by private car)

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed by car to Kalaw (320 km - 8 hours driving). On the way visit Mt. Popa (around 1.5 hours), which is an extinct volcano with spectacular views over the plains of Bagan region. You will have to climb up 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak to see the panoramic view. Please be careful with your sun glasses and any items in the open pockets as there are many monkeys in this mountain.
On the way to Mt. Popa, you can also visit toddy palm grove where the skillful local worker climbing up the toddy trees with their bamboo ladders and collecting toddy juice. Toddy juice is used to produce jaggery and alcoholic drink.
Continue your journey to Kalaw through the plains and later up in to mountains. Kalaw is situated nearly 1,500 Meter above sea level, a charming former hill station with pine forests.

Day 11.Kalaw - Pindaya - Nyaung Shwe - Inle Lake (by private car and private boat)

After breakfast at the hotel, drive by car to Pindaya (around 45 km - 1.5 hours) passing through beautiful scenery of Shan State. Visit a local village on the way.
In Pindaya visit Pindaya cave, 160 m deep inside, which is enshrining with 8,000 Buddha images. Your visit will also include traditional Shan Paper making industry. Today photography session will include the Pindaya Cave, a pottery, Shan paper making industry, village life and the nature at Pindaya region.
Afterwards you will drive back to Aung Ban, a regional trading center for agricultural products and drive to Nyaung Shwe, the main gateway to get to Inle Lake.
Your visit will also to visit to the Shwe Yan Pyae Monastery.

Day 12. Inle Lake - Indein (by private boat)

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the five day's market at nearby village (if coinciding with market day schedule). Excursion on the Lake by private long-tail boat will include the weaving village of Inn Pawkhone and a cheroot rolling workshop as well as the famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. You will also see floating gardens, leg rowers, local fishing methods and village life of Inle Lake.
Continue your journey to the Western bank of Inle Lake upstream on a creek to get to Indein Pagoda where thousands of Shan style stupas exist. You will also get a chance to stroll around bamboo forest and visit local villages to experience village life of tribal people.
After sightseeing in Indein, take a private canoe to go downstream on Indein creek passing through some rice fields and bamboo forests.

Day 13.Inle Lake - Heho - Yangon (by private boat, car and afternoon flight)

After breakfast, visit a local five days market (if it coincides with five day’s market) and a local village for the village life. You can also visit to Alae Myaung local village situated on the eastern bank of Inle Lake to see native and migrating birds and local farming methods before transfer to Nyaung Shwe by boat and by car to Heho airport to fly back to Yangon.
Upon arrival in Yangon, you will be transfer to the hotel.

Day 14. Yangon - International Departure (morning / evening)

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the railways station to experience the local circular train rides. The train ride would not be too spectacular but nice. But one can see the town from different angles. In the middle of the journey, it is getting quite rural. One could see the ordinary local people on their local lives. Drop off at Insein (approximately 45 minutes) and visit the Insein market where you can see the colorful vendors and shopkeepers.
Your can also stroll around the Scott (Bogyoke) Market with hundreds of food, clothes, handicrafts and gems stores before transfer to the airport for your international flight. [Scott (Bogyoke) Market will be closed on Monday and public holidays].
